IndiGo, India’s leading airline, has secured approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to conduct Visual Flight Rules (VFR) operations to and from Deoghar Airport, situated in the state of Jharkhand. IndiGo stands as the sole airline providing scheduled flights from the bustling Deoghar Airport.
According to a report by T3 News Network, the DGCA approval allows IndiGo to conduct operations with visibility as low as 3600 meters for its Airbus fleet and 3200 meters for the ATR fleet. The constraint proved to be particularly demanding in the winter season when visibility frequently dropped below 5000 meters, resulting in a notable increase in the number of flight cancellations.
The airline will now be able to operate daily flights to Kolkata, thrice weekly to Ranchi, four times weekly to Patna, and daily flights to Delhi. This expanded connectivity is expected to not only benefit the local population but also facilitate seamless travel for business and leisure passengers alike.
With this regulatory nod for VFR operations, IndiGo is set to contribute to the growth and accessibility of air travel in and out of Deoghar, fostering economic development and connectivity in the region.
