IndiGo, India’s leading airline, is set to enhance its presence in the Southeast Asian travel market by resuming operations between Bengaluru and Phuket, scheduled to commence on February 28, 2024.
The airline will operate six flights a week on this route, using the Airbus A320 family aircraft. The flight from Bengaluru will take off at 0400hrs, reaching Phuket at 0910hrs. The return journey from Phuket will commence at 1030hrs, landing in Bengaluru at 1300hrs. The duration of the flight is expected to be between 3 to 4 hours.
IndiGo is not only reconnecting Bengaluru with Phuket but is also expanding its services from Mumbai to this popular Thai destination. Starting from January 5, 2024, the Mumbai-Phuket route will witness two additional flights per week. The flight is scheduled to depart Mumbai at 1915hrs, arriving in Phuket at 0105hrs. On the return leg, it will leave Phuket at 0205hrs, touching down in Mumbai at 0510hrs.
The airline’s move to increase operations to Phuket comes amidst growing demand from Indian travelers seeking winter beach getaways. IndiGo, with its expanded flight offerings, will connect India to Thailand 56 times a week, providing a plethora of options for Indian passengers.
However, the airline faces increased competition in the Phuket market with the recent launch of Air India’s four weekly flights from New Delhi, starting December 15, 2023. Air India plans to further intensify its presence by increasing the frequency to daily flights from January 2024, challenging IndiGo’s dominance in the region.
IndiGo’s international expansion has been notable in recent months, as it continues to diversify its revenue sources beyond domestic flights.
