Air India has announced the launch of non-stop flights between New Delhi and Osaka, Japan, from 2 February 2027. The new service will strengthen the airline’s presence in the Japanese market and expand direct air connectivity between India and Japan.
The airline will operate four flights per week between Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Kansai International Airport (KIX), Osaka, using its Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
According to Air India, the new service will make it the only airline operating non-stop flights on the Delhi–Osaka route.
Flight Schedule and Operations
The new route will operate under flight numbers AI360 and AI359. The schedule, effective 2 February 2027, is as follows:
| Flight | Route | Departure | Arrival | Operating days |
| AI360 | Delhi–Osaka | 22:50 | 09:50 next day | Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday |
| AI359 | Osaka–Delhi | 11:50 | 18:20 | Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday |
All times are local. Arrival times and operating days are as published by Air India.
The Boeing 787-8 deployed on the route features 18 full-flat beds in Business Class and 241 seats in Economy Class.
Osaka Becomes Air India’s Second Destination in Japan
Osaka will become Air India’s second destination in Japan after Tokyo Haneda. The airline currently operates daily flights between Delhi and Tokyo Haneda, alongside four weekly services between Mumbai and Tokyo Haneda.
The addition of Osaka will provide travellers with another direct connection to Japan and improve access to the country’s Kansai region, a major centre for commerce, manufacturing and tourism.
The new service will also support multi-city travel itineraries. Passengers will be able to fly into Osaka and return from Tokyo, or travel in the opposite direction, making it easier to explore destinations along Japan’s popular Golden Route, including Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
Growing Demand for Travel Between India and Japan
Air India’s announcement comes amid increasing interest in Japan among Indian travellers. According to figures cited by the airline from the Japan National Tourism Organization, more than 315,000 Indian visitors travelled to Japan in 2025, representing a 35% increase over 2024 and nearly 80% growth compared with pre-pandemic levels.
Growing tourism demand, expanding business ties and stronger cultural connections between the two countries are contributing to the need for improved air connectivity.
The new Delhi–Osaka service is expected to provide additional travel options for leisure passengers, business travellers and visitors planning multi-destination trips across Japan.
Bookings and Availability
Air India has stated that bookings for the Delhi–Osaka service are being progressively made available through its official website, mobile application, customer contact centre, airport ticketing offices and travel agents.
The launch adds another destination to the airline’s international network as it continues to expand its presence across Asia.
