The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted approval for the implementation of the Electronic Flight Folder (EFF) system by IndiGo Airlines. This cutting-edge technology promises to revolutionize flight planning and streamline essential paperwork for pilots.
The EFF is a comprehensive digital platform that seamlessly digitizes and consolidates all critical flight plan documents and associated paperwork. It serves as a unified repository for pre-flight briefing data, making it accessible to pilots via their Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) devices, such as iPads.
The EFF integrates various data sources, including operational flight plans, weather reports, Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), weather charts, airfield information, and Extended Twin Operations (ETOPs) data. All this information is automatically collated into a single EFF file, eliminating the need for manual compilation.
Pilots can access their customized briefing packs directly on their EFB devices. The EFF forms the foundation of the pilot’s pre-flight preparations, ensuring they have the most up-to-date and relevant information.
IndiGo’s adoption of the EFF is not only technologically advanced but also environmentally conscious. By reducing paperwork and streamlining processes, the airline aims to cut approximately 800 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually. This reduction is equivalent to saving 2,200 trees each year.
IndiGo’s commitment to adopting the EFF underscores its dedication to sustainability and operational efficiency. As the aviation industry continues to evolve, innovations like the EFF pave the way for a greener and more streamlined future.
