Akasa Air, the rapidly expanding Indian low-cost carrier, is all set to resume its services between Bangalore and Hyderabad from January 14, 2024. The airline, which initially launched in August 2022, has become a significant player in the Indian aviation sector, connecting major cities across the country.
Akasa Air, a crisis-hit domestic carrier, has suspended flights from Bengaluru to Chennai and Hyderabad due to operational reasons in October 2023. The Bangalore-Hyderabad route, already served by IndiGo Airlines, Vistara, Air India, Air India Express, and Alliance Air, will now witness the re-entry of Akasa Air.
The flight schedule for the Bengaluru-Hyderabad route is as follows:
- QP1405: Departure from Bengaluru (BLR) at 06:30 am, arriving in Hyderabad (HYD) at 07:30 am.
- QP1409: Departure from Hyderabad (HYD) at 12:50 am, arriving in Bengaluru (BLR) at 02:10 am.
In a strategic move, Akasa Air will operate its brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on this sector. The airline recently welcomed two of these state-of-the-art aircraft to its growing fleet. As of the end of 2023, Akasa Air’s fleet comprises 22 aircraft, including 21 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and one Boeing 737 MAX 8 200 – the first of its kind in Asia.
Since its launch, Akasa Air has served over 6.3 million passengers and expanded its reach to 17 cities across India. The cities include Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Delhi, Guwahati, Agartala, Pune, Lucknow, Goa, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, and Port Blair.
Exciting reports indicate that Akasa Air is on the brink of finalizing a substantial order for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX narrowbody aircraft. The official announcement is anticipated during the Wings India event scheduled to take place in Hyderabad from January 18 to 21, 2024. This event is considered the largest civil aviation gathering in India for the year.
The additional aircraft are expected to play a pivotal role in Akasa Air’s ambitious expansion plans, both within India and internationally. Currently, the carrier operates exclusively within its home nation, but the new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft can extend Akasa Air’s reach to nearby cross-border destinations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
