In an effort to retain its pilot workforce, Akasa Air has once again increased pilot salaries, marking the second such hike in just two months. This move comes as the airline faced the departure of 19 pilots during the month of August.
The latest salary adjustment introduces a monthly incentive, with First Officers receiving Rs 25,000 and Captains being granted Rs 1 lakh. Additionally, a substantial long-term incentive of Rs 25 lakh has been introduced.
The long-term incentive will be disbursed in three installments, spanning from 2024 to 2026. The payment schedule is set at 15% in August 2024, 25% in August 2025, and the remaining 60% in August 2026.
The significant departure of 19 pilots in August, who chose to leave without adhering to their notice period, has reportedly prompted the compensation review. The allure of recruitment offers from a rival airline seems to have fueled this exodus, as more pilots are rumored to be considering similar moves.
As per sources, the wave of pilot resignations will not have an immediate impact on the airline’s operations.
