The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati has experienced a significant surge in passenger footfall, recording approximately five lakh passengers in the month of June 2023. As per reports, out of the five lakh passengers, nearly 2.95 lakh were departures, while the remaining were arrivals at the Guwahati Airport. This remarkable increase in passenger numbers represents a 15 percent growth compared to the same period last year.
The Guwahati Airport has been consistently witnessing substantial growth, evident by the impressive figure of around 4,000 flight movements recorded in June 2023, significantly higher than the corresponding period in 2022.
The post-pandemic era has witnessed a strong resurgence in air travel, and the Northeast’s largest airport is no exception to this trend. In May 2023, the Guwahati Airport had also registered a record footfall of around five lakh passengers, showcasing the growing popularity of air travel in the region.
