Malaysia Airlines flight MH199, en-route from Hyderabad to Kuala Lumpur, was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff due to technical issues with the aircraft’s right engine. The incident occurred on 20 June, just after the plane departed from Runway 27L at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
According to video footage circulating on social media, sparks were seen coming from the affected engine, prompting immediate concern. The flight, which had over 138 passengers on board, had taken off at 12:45 a.m. but had to return to the airport shortly after.
The aircraft involved was a 10 year old Boeing 737 aircraft registered as 9M-MXU which is powered by CFM engines.
Malaysia Airlines confirmed that the flight landed safely back at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, and all passengers and crew were disembarked safely.
