In a significant move aimed at fortifying its global presence, Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, has unveiled substantial updates to its summer flight schedule. The expansion includes the introduction of new routes and increased frequencies on existing ones, bolstering Abu Dhabi’s stature as a pivotal global hub while enriching travel choices for passengers.
The airline’s latest stride involves the launch of flights to Jaipur (JAI), India, commencing on June 16th, featuring four weekly flights. Jaipur, often referred to as the “Pink City” for its iconic rose-tinted architecture, stands as the vibrant capital of Rajasthan, India. Renowned for its seamless blend of tradition and modernity, Jaipur boasts a rich cultural tapestry highlighted by magnificent landmarks such as the Hawa Mahal and City Palace.
Arik De, Etihad Airways Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer said:
“As we move forward, our enhanced summer schedule marks an important step in our growth strategy, offering our guests additional flexibility and choice. With the expansion of our flight frequencies and the extension of our network, we are elevating Abu Dhabi’s global links and warmly welcoming more travellers to immerse themselves in our emirate’s rich history and dynamic culture. This includes the exceptional experience awaiting them at Zayed International Airport – Terminal A, our new home, which redefines the benchmarks for travel comfort and service excellence.”
Beginning June 15th, Etihad will ramp up service frequencies to several key destinations:
- Thiruvananthapuram and Amman will see an increase of three weekly flights each, totaling 10 and 14 respectively.
- Cairo’s services will be boosted by three additional flights, reaching a total of 24 per week.
- Karachi will witness an increase to 17 weekly flights, while Colombo will see a rise to 20.
This expansion translates to a remarkable 33 percent surge in Etihad’s total weekly flights, escalating from 635 last summer to 847 in 2024, and broadening its network from 65 to 75 destinations, thereby significantly augmenting global connectivity.
The inclusion of Jaipur amplifies Etihad’s Indian gateways to 11 in total, underscoring the airline’s commitment to the Indian market and reinforcing the cultural and economic ties between India and the UAE.
The revamped schedule and introduction of new routes are meticulously crafted to enhance the passenger experience, offering greater connectivity and a wider array of travel options. Passengers will also have the opportunity to relish the sophisticated amenities and customer-centric services offered at the newly inaugurated Terminal A at Zayed International Airport Abu Dhabi.
