Ethiopian Airlines is poised to further strengthen its presence in the Indian subcontinent by launching a new route connecting Addis Ababa to Hyderabad. This initiative bridges the gap between two of the world’s fastest-growing regions, fostering closer ties and expanding travel and trade opportunities.
Starting June 16, 2025, Ethiopian Airlines will operate flights between Addis Ababa and Hyderabad three times a week, utilizing its state-of-the-art Boeing 737 MAX-8 aircraft. The aircraft offers a total of 160 seats, with 16 in Business Class and 144 in Economy Class, ensuring a comfortable journey for all passengers.
- ET682: Departs Addis Ababa at 16:10 and arrives in Hyderabad at 00:40 the next day. Operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
- ET683: Departs Hyderabad at 01:55 and arrives in Addis Ababa at 05:55. Operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
The launch marks a significant milestone as Hyderabad gains its first direct connection to Africa. This route will not only enhance connectivity for travelers but also create opportunities for business and cultural exchanges between the two regions.
With Hyderabad becoming its fifth Indian destination, Ethiopian Airlines continues to build a robust network in the subcontinent. The airline’s operations to India in June 2025 will include up to six daily departures:
- Bengaluru: Three weekly flights using the Boeing 737 MAX-8.
- Chennai: Four weekly flights using the Boeing 737 MAX-8.
- Delhi: Double daily flights with Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliners.
- Hyderabad: Three weekly flights using the Boeing 737 MAX-8.
- Mumbai: Double daily flights with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
The new Hyderabad route will become Ethiopian Airlines’ fifth-longest non-stop narrowbody flight, following destinations like Dhaka, Abidjan, Delhi, and Chennai. This expansion aligns with the airline’s strategy to connect Africa with major global markets while meeting the growing demand for travel between the Indian subcontinent and Africa.
