In a momentous celebration held at Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited (CALC) marked over a decade of partnership with Airbus. The commemoration coincided with the delivery of one of the aircraft to Air India.
Over the past ten years, CALC has emerged as a comprehensive aircraft solutions provider, playing a pivotal role in the global aviation industry. Notably, CALC achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Chinese lessor to place a direct bulk order for 100 A320s with Airbus, a testament to the company’s commitment to fostering international partnerships.
With cumulative orders reaching an impressive 252 Airbus aircraft, CALC has now earned the distinction of being the sixth-largest lessor customer for Airbus. This remarkable journey began in July 2012 when CALC placed its initial order for 36 A320ceo family aircraft. The subsequent years witnessed rapid fleet expansion, highlighted by another substantial bulk order of 100 A320ceo family aircraft in 2014, marking one of Airbus’s largest orders that year.
In response to the evolving demands of the aviation landscape, CALC strategically placed additional bulk orders for the A320neo family and 40 A321neo aircraft in 2018 and 2020, respectively.
Collaborating closely over the past decade, CALC and Airbus have successfully delivered a total of 135 aircraft to CALC’s airline customers worldwide. This impressive accomplishment reflects a 6.5-fold growth in CALC’s fleet during this period, showcasing the resilience and adaptability of both companies in the dynamic aviation sector.
Mike Poon, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of CALC, said:
“We are thrilled about the highly successful partnership we have had with Airbus over the past decade. CALC and Airbus have collaborated on numerous groundbreaking deals, introducing exceptional products to airlines worldwide. Our shared commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) values has been instrumental in driving our collaboration forward. We firmly believe that CALC and Airbus will continue to join forces in delivering cutting-edge, technologically advanced aircraft, further contributing to the sustainable development of the aviation industry.”
