An Air India flight AI-127, bound from Delhi to Chicago, encountered an unexpected turn of events as it was compelled to make an emergency landing at Tashkent International Airport. The cause? A medical emergency involving an 86-year-old female passenger who suffered a heart attack mid-flight.
The incident, which unfolded at 06:44 (GMT+5) on the 8th of May, prompted swift action from the flight crew, necessitating an immediate diversion to the nearest airport for urgent medical assistance. Upon touchdown at Tashkent, the elderly passenger, accompanied by a companion, was promptly transferred by ambulance to the Republican Scientific Centre for Emergency Medical Care for urgent treatment.
With the medical emergency expertly handled, the Air India aircraft resumed its course, taking off from Tashkent airport to proceed toward its original destination of Chicago. The flight was operated by Air India’s Boeing B777-337(ER) aircraft carrying registrations VT-ALK.
